Sara the Starlett

I was babysitting my niece and nephew last week while my sister was out of town. Sara is only 6 months older than Andie, and they get along amazingly well. While they were here, Andie started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle,Little Star." Sara, not wanting to be out done by her younger cousin piped in with her own version.

It went something like this.

Let's Hit the Slopes!

Rob surprised me by taking me skiing for my first time today. We headed up to Sundance around 8:30 a.m. After practicing on the rope tow/bunny hill twice I was ready to hit the slopes. Or so I thought! We headed up the first lift despite my fear of being "that girl" that falls getting off the lift. To my surprise it was way easier getting off than I thought. Phew!

We practiced on a few easy blues (more difficult) and greens (easiest). Then we hit the lift again and this time went all the way up to Bearclaw's Cabin. There, Rob and I shared a bowl of chili and each got a hot chocolate.

Check out that blue sky! It was such a beautiful day, and so warm. Perfect for my first try at skiing, seeing as I hate being cold. After the most delicious hot chocolate ever, we headed down Bearclaw slope. Which was really steep for me. I think it took us about 30 minutes to get down. After which my thighs were burning from forming my "pizza slice" or snow plowing all the way down.

I spent a bit of time like this.

But towards the end of the day was feeling a bit more comfortable turing and stopping. After I pooped out and headed back to the car, Rob spent another 2 hours on the slopes by himself. I was just not ready to try a black diamond yet!
All in all it was a fun day, and I definitely want to go again!

An Early Valentine

A couple of weeks ago we were invited up to Rob's boss' house for dinner. While we were there, Kate made a valentine for me with the help of one of their daughters. I was given specific instructions not to open it until Valentine's Day. I had completly forgotten about it when I found it in the drawer a few days ago. And of course I had to peek!

Followed by, "Love, Kate."

There's a first time for everything...

I did it.
Something I vowed I'd NEVER EVER do.
I can't believe it.
But I actually did it.
I agreed to join a card swap group.
And now I'm a tad excited.
Because I made these,

(you can see the actual colors better in the 2nd picture)

and I think they are dang cute.

And now I'm excited to see what everyone else came up with.

Lesson Learned = Never say never.

We Love Bamma and Papa!

The night before my Mom and Dad left, we decided to try to get a picture with them and all the grandkids. Do you know how hard it is to get 4 kids to look at the camera all at the same time?!?

Needless to say, it never happened. But these are the pictures we ended up with.

Sara and Blake didn't want to be held.

Andie tried to escape.

Blake REALLY didn't want to be held.

Kate and Sara lovin' on each other, Blake trying to get down, and Andie decided she was tired.
I love the look on Mom's face in this one.
Blake finally escaped.
Guess these are better than nothin'!

Kind of Dear

Andie. What can I say. How can you not love her?!? She is so sweet and fun to have around. Most of the time. She is growing to be quite the opinionated little girl. She knows what she wants and will settle for nothing less.

I just wanted to share this small gem about her.

Andie loves to sing, almost as much as her big sister. Her favorite performance pieces now include "Honey, Honey," "Mamma Mia," and a plethora of Primary Songs. However, she often substitutes words for parts she doesn't quite know the words to.

Case in point.

One such Primary Song is called "I am a Child of God."

The correct version goes like this:

I am a Child of God, and He as sent me here. Has given me an earthly home, with parents
kind and dear.

Andie's version goes like this:

I am a Child of God, and He has sent me here. Has given me an earf-ly home,
with parents kind of dear.

For now, being "kind of dear" is okay by me!
