Let's Hit the Slopes!

Rob surprised me by taking me skiing for my first time today. We headed up to Sundance around 8:30 a.m. After practicing on the rope tow/bunny hill twice I was ready to hit the slopes. Or so I thought! We headed up the first lift despite my fear of being "that girl" that falls getting off the lift. To my surprise it was way easier getting off than I thought. Phew!

We practiced on a few easy blues (more difficult) and greens (easiest). Then we hit the lift again and this time went all the way up to Bearclaw's Cabin. There, Rob and I shared a bowl of chili and each got a hot chocolate.

Check out that blue sky! It was such a beautiful day, and so warm. Perfect for my first try at skiing, seeing as I hate being cold. After the most delicious hot chocolate ever, we headed down Bearclaw slope. Which was really steep for me. I think it took us about 30 minutes to get down. After which my thighs were burning from forming my "pizza slice" or snow plowing all the way down.

I spent a bit of time like this.

But towards the end of the day was feeling a bit more comfortable turing and stopping. After I pooped out and headed back to the car, Rob spent another 2 hours on the slopes by himself. I was just not ready to try a black diamond yet!
All in all it was a fun day, and I definitely want to go again!

I was just talking to Randy about this... if it was my first time skiing, I don't know if I'd want to go with Rob! Haha! He's crazy! I can't believe he took you down a black diamond! You are brave. And don't worry, I've been skiing for 10 years and I still snowplow the mountain. :P I'm too much of a scaredy cat.

Looks like you had a blast! And what a workout!! Do you think you're going to take up skiing?

I didn't really go down that black diamond. I had a hard enough time on some of the blues!

It was a great work out...and I'm still a little sore.

I will definitely go again. I really liked it. Maybe we should go together, then Rob and Randy can ski together and you and I can take our sweet time getting down the mountain!
