Accident Prone or Something...

It seems we have children who like the emergency room, or urgent care at least. On Saturday evening Andie climbed onto a chair, grabbed a glass decorative ball out of a basket and fell over backwards onto the kitchen tile. In the landing she managed to shatter the ball on the tile and cut her wrist (about 3/4 to 1 inch). Now, seven stitches later she's happily playing again.
We have now had one accident per child this year (knock on wood). We have filled our quota (knock on wood). NO MORE ACCIDENTS (knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood)!!!

You poor thing! How did you get her to hold still. When my oldest was 1, he ran into the corner of our Wymount cinderblock wall and had to get stiches. They had him in this mummy thing so he wouldn't move. I was able to keep him calm by singing "I am a child of God" while the doctor stiched him. Both the doctor and nurse joined in singing. He was quiet and still. It moved us all. Since then, no one else has needed stiches. I wish the same luck on you!

They wrapped her up in a sheet with her right arm by her side, with her left arm out. The nurse held her arm still, Rob held her legs, and I sang her favorite primary song quietly in her ear (Once there was a Snowman).

Once she had the numbing shots, she was fine. She didn't need to be held down anymore. I still sang to her, but she would look over and even watch what they were doing. The doctor said she did much better than a grown man would have done.

Ouch! I don't know how I've managed to get away with no injuries for my kids thus far (knock on wood:)....Makes me nervous for what could be to come!
